Census Bureau Releases New Findings On Health Insurance Coverage

Although medical insured 12.4 million  people, 9.2 million  people still had no health insurance in.

The male population was less likely than the female population to have health insurance coverage 86.9 percent.

An estimated 14.0 percent of the population were without health insurance  coverage during 2000.

Uninsured Children by Race, Ethnicity, and age:

All Children 11.6%

Poor Children 21.5%                            White 10.9 %

Under 6 yrs 11.1%                               White non-Hispanic 7.3%

6yrs to 11yrs 11.5%                              Black 13.6%

12yrs to 17yrs 12.3%                             Hispanic Origin 24.9%

Children Covered by Medicaid                      ALL CHILDREN 20.4%

 

Among the  people 18 to 64 years old had a markedly lower health insurance coverage rate, (59.o%), than either people under 18 (78.5%).
