  Dear Senator,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Children’s Charity Fund, Inc., a national non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.  For more than 15 years we have been supplying medical equipment and educational grants on a limited basis to handicapped and disabled children throughout the United States.  Are you aware that Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance or children with no insurance at all are not covered when purchasing durable medical equipment?  Statistics show us that approximately 1 in 10 children or 5.2 million children suffer from some form of a handicap or disability.

The ever-increasing cost of maintaining today’s family, which is trying to live the ‘American Dream’, is almost impossible especially families with handicapped or disabled children.  Families have to cope with, not only the daily heartache and pain of a physically challenged child; they must also endure tremendous medical and medical equipment cost for that child. We know there are literally thousands of children in the U. S. with parents who struggle just to feed their families, put a roof over their head and cloth them.  Then, without warning, their child is diagnosed and becomes handicapped or disabled and needs thousands of dollars worth of medical equipment in order to have some semblance of a normal life.

For that reason Children’s Charity Fund, Inc. is asking that you propose a “Handicapped Children’s Week”.  This would bring awareness to the plight of handicapped and disabled children ad at the same time ask that anyone in the U.S. who has used medical equipment just sitting around the house gathering dust to donate that equipment to a Children’s Hospital or Handicapped Organization in their area.

We propose that this week begin  June 24th.  With your help we may be able to help handicapped and disabled children throughout our great country who are not as fortunate as others. Children’s Charity Fund, Inc has added to it’s website a page for the petition so Americans can voice there opinion.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.  I await your response.

Respectfully yours,

Ken Bowron
